“I will begin by stating that this is an unsolicited review. That’s important because I’m often asked to comment on, or review, a magic product. My rule is simple: I will only put my opinion out there if I’m actually going to use, and perform with, the item. Otherwise, I don’t bother.
For quite some time, I’ve been looking for a signature, all purpose, designer deck with a classy, sophisticated design, that would arouse fascination rather than suspicion. As luck would have it, I found this deck while meeting at a pub before for a lecture in Leeds. Andrew Dean brought out his new Rose Elites Old Masters Marked Deck, casually showing it around. As each magician looked at it, they focused on the cleverly concealed, yet easily readable, markings. When the pack got to me, I first checked it out from a card quality standpoint, the uniqueness of design, the premium quality of finish and smoothness of handling. All of these were excellent, comparable to the best cards on the market. Once those boxes were ticked, I imagined a layperson seeing me perform with this deck, and quickly concluded that their focus would rest on the elegant rose pattern. Only then did I consider the clever marking system. Upon further examination the Jokers and Ace of Spades designs are exquisite, while the other cards are standard, bicycle style. All of these aspects appealed to me. Andrew kindly gave me a few decks to work with overnight. My conclusion is that these are premium cards, ideal for a working pro who is looking for something classy and distinctive. The fact that they are marked is a bonus! After a few hours, it became quite clear that my long search for a signature pack of cards was over. Henceforth, I will be using the Rose Elites Old Masters in all of my card routines, whether I use the Markings or not. Kudos to Andrew for designing and producing an extraordinary deck of cards!“
